Sequana, is the Latin name of the Celtic goddess who protected the source of the river Seine in ancient France . It is the name chosen by Mary Shaw to symbolise an entire universe  based around the home, which she created in 1997 in Paris, a concept totally innovative at the time.

Working with the most experienced craftsmen, collections of textiles, furniture, glass, ceramics , accessories and objects have been created and presented in a typical Parisian apartment home.

In a more and more frenetic world, where our lives are subjected to stress, to different fashions that come and go, the home represents peace and stability, the ultimate refuge to find oneself again. The home of Sequana is one of warmth, comfort, and colour. It is inspirational, a place of serenity and energy, harmony and well-being for relaxed and elegant living.

The original synthesis of Celtic and Latin themes finds its parallel in the double culture, Irish and French of its founder Mary Shaw and which has been her inspiration and influence. Mary Shaw interprets and re-interprets the ancient, the classic and the new. Nature with all its richness and colour is a constant inspiration and brings life into the home.

Colour with its influence, power and magic is at the heart of Sequana. Sequana is a style, unexpected, authentic, elegant, timeless, where tradition meets modernity. Everywhere there is a story while at the same time all is simple, fresh and contemporary. Intense palettes of colour and textures, from unexpected alliances, tonalities, and subtilities to audacious contrasts, from which a multitude of atmospheres can be created, reflecting the personality of each and everyone.

The esprit Sequana is universal and is attractive to different mentalities, from followers of warm baroque, defenders of classic tradition to pure minimalist esthetes. Sequana is for ever evolving, in tune with the times, and wide open for expression.
